IEP

Ok I am trying to get ready today...its tomorrow~

I baked them a pound cake to bribe them to kindness. LOL...actually its for the therapists who have worked with him so long. He aged out of BCW! My big boy!

Upcoming events!

I havent been on in a bit. Ty has really been sick. We are just getting on our feet but I wanted to share something...

We are scheduled for an 8 week visit at the Marcus Institute for the
intensive feeding clinic. I wanted to share the experience.

Last month we were able to get the evaluation done. They were very
detailed. It took four hours for an interview with a social worker
and therapist and a doctors visit.

The Moshe R. Manheim was the clinical social worker. He was very nice
and inquired about our family structure and schedule. He reviewed
Ty's medical history and watched him play. After that we went into a
waiting area for a bit.

After a quick eval from nursing we were off to the second half of our visit there.

When we began the second part of the eval we went into a room to meet
with the therapists, nutrition and a Behavioral Pediatric Psychologist, Dr Sharp.

Once the interview was done they wanted to observe me feeding Ty.
They had a set up with a one way mirror for viewing. Needless to
say, I was nervous. Again they were very kind.

Afterwards they met for a few minutes and then they suggested that he
attend the program Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The
program involves intensive feeding sessions of three to five meals a
day, medical oversight, nutritional monitoring, and caregiver (thats
me!) training and support. The program lasts approximately eight
weeks. Look out Ronald McDonald!

We plan to go in March. We have some nice support from Pediatria in
the form of "nursing care" which will allow me some respite between
sessions. We are also assigned a room to rest and nap in on site.
Evenings we are on our own.

An interesting side note...they will offer continuing support because he
will have the frequent surgeries. Seems follow up is standard to ensure success!

We go the first of March and I will post how it goes and what each day is like.
I look forward to success!

Tell me!
